St. Paul's Episcopal Church Graveyard (a spirit
orbs
encounter?)
Saint
Paul's Episcopal Church is located in the heart of Old Town Key West, on
the corner of Eaton and Duval Street. The church was established
in 1831 with the first Vestry constructed in 1833. In its
history, the church has been destroyed by hurricanes and fire and has
been rebuilt several times.
The land that the church sits on was originally granted in 1832 by the
widow of John William Charles Fleming, one of the original owners of the
island of Key West. The only condition set forth by Mrs. Fleming
was that the remains of her husband (who passed over in that same year)
must never be removed from this land.
The remains of John William Charles Fleming still rests here, although
the actual location of his grave is unknown. Frequent reported
occurrences of unexplained phenomena over the years, have contributed to
the speculation that the grave was covered in one of the church's many
reconstructions, quite possibly disturbing one or more of the spirits
resting there.
Behind the church is a small garden and memorial graveyard. Here
many have claimed to witness the vaporous apparition of a man in 19th
century attire, and at times another ghostly spirit that appears to be
an old sea captain frightens visitors. There have also been reports of the ghostly apparition
of children huddled around the statue of an angel that stands in the
corner of the garden.
In my visit, it was around 9:30 in the
evening and I decided to snap a few photos of the dark graveyard garden.
As you can see by the photos, there are several unexplained orbs in the
center of the garden. The night was clear and dry, about 70
degrees, with no wind . . . as you can see, the orbs appear well into
the garden, at least 15 to 20 feet from where I stood. Note that
there are none closer to the camera.

Spirit Orbs
Photo Ordinarily, I do
not place much value on alleged 'Spirit Orb' photography due to a
variety of conditions that can, and do effect results, such as
light, dust, and moisture. In this case, however, the weather
conditions were perfect and I took several nearly identical photos
that have no orbs or hazy wisps of mist.
One other phenomena that occurred while I was taking these photos .
. . I am quite certain I briefly heard the voices of children (a
commonly reported occurrence here). Not being able to pinpoint
the location of where these voices were coming from however, causes
me to question the source and remain open to the idea but
unconvinced of their ghostly origin.
I leave it to you to consider the cause of the orbs or the voices!
