Hunters Ridge Lawn Tractor face-off. An annual event, 1999 witnessed a dramatic
shift in the level of competition through the introduction of lady racers.
Driving this year for the "Scrubs Team," Skip
commented, "I'm not concerned about the increased field of competition. I've been
running sprints on the lawn now for quite a few weeks and I'm ready. These women don't
intimidate me, matter of fact, my teammate's a woman." |

teammate, "Mischievous M." So what did he tell her? "Just bury
that peddle and don't look back." |

Team driver for the Lifers, "Mischievous M." taunts her opponents by
making fun of their team uniforms. When questioned by the line judges, Mischievous M
replied, "Hey, racing is as much about psychology as it is speed!" |
In the pits: "Menacing Murph" Checks out her big John Deere just
coming off the first round.
"I don't know . . . it sounds like a fouled plug. We're gonna have to pop the
hood and take care of it, or just call it a day." |

third heat of the afternoon pitted the Hygienists, the Lifers, and the Cons in a scorching
head-to-head competition. |
